Can You Sell Tickets on Facebook? What Actually Works in 2026

Facebook Events have changed a lot. Here's what still works for selling tickets in 2026 — and what to use instead.

Can You Sell Tickets on Facebook? What Actually Works in 2026

Facebook Events have been around long enough that plenty of hosts still rely on them as their main event tool. But if you're trying to sell tickets and run a properly managed event, Facebook has real limitations that add up quickly.

What Facebook Events can and can't do

Facebook lets you create an event page, invite people, and post updates. Some setups let you link out to a ticketing platform. But as a full ticketing solution, it falls short:

  • No reliable native ticketing - Facebook's built-in ticketing features are limited and inconsistently available. Most hosts end up linking to a third-party platform anyway.

  • No real guest list management - "Going" on a Facebook Event doesn't mean much. There's no payment confirmation, no QR code, and no way to know who's actually coming until they show up.

  • Limited guest communication - updates posted to a Facebook Event page don't guarantee your guests will see them. The algorithm controls what surfaces in their feeds.

  • Declining relevance for younger audiences - if your crowd skews under 35, Facebook Events may not be where they're looking.

What Facebook is still useful for

That said, it's not useless - especially for specific audiences:

  • Local community groups - posting in a relevant local Facebook group can still drive meaningful reach for neighborhood events, markets, and community gatherings

  • Older demographics - if your audience skews 35 and up, Facebook Events remain a relevant discovery channel

  • Paid ads - Meta's ad platform can be effective for reaching targeted audiences around your event if you have a promotion budget

The better setup

Use Facebook for reach and a dedicated ticketing platform for everything else. Create your event on Partiful, get your link, and share it in your Facebook Event, your community groups, and anywhere else your audience is.

Partiful handles the ticket sale, the guest list, check-in, and communication - so you're not cobbling together a functional event management system from Facebook's limited toolset. And unlike a Facebook Event, a Partiful event page shows guests who else is attending - which creates social proof and drives more ticket sales through genuine word of mouth.
