Getting to the Roots is an invitation to meet history where it is still alive: in the hand, in the repeated gesture, and in the objects that accompany everyday life. What began with my great-grandfather, Mochama’s forepeople, did not end in a display case. It moved through my grandparents, Elijah and Esther Oswago, and then my mother, Bernadette Oswago; it now takes shape through Motebii in the Bay Area. This workshop is an opportunity to participate in the next hand in the chain. You'll see, feel, and learn about one of Kenya's art forms.
