Shorty is not just a DJ but also an educator and youth mentor. Currently holding down a monthly residency at the world famous ChipShop in Brixton and until recently, hosted the weekly ChipShop show on ChuckD’s Rapstation365. His radio career started on pirate radio with ForceFM, moving on to DejaVu as well as working with ItchFM, KaneFM, BBC Radio 6, 1Xtra and Xfm. Not just a club DJ, Shorty has worked with a number of live acts over the years headlining sets at Glastonbury and the London Jazz Festival with improv jazz outfit, N.S.C. When it comes to educating, Shorty has partnered up with singer/producer Mister Lees to run More Than Music. An organisation aimed at long term work with troubled youth. His primary educational role is as a lecturer for Point Blank Music school London as well as their partners around the world. Gustavo, de origen venezolano, forma parte del gran colectivo sudamericano afincado en Europa. Start from Scratch invites those new to DJing to learn the basics or improve their skills and gain crucial insights into the electronic music industry. The workshops guide participants through how to use Pioneer DJ’s industry-leading equipment under the guidance of Pioneer DJ product experts and DJ and KISS Fresh Breakfast presenter Esi. The special event taking place at Fabric London will be an insightful Introduction to DJing, a 3-hour hands-on dive into the foundations of the skill and opportunity for attendees to give it a go. Plus, all workshop attendees will receive a free 3-month licence to the online educational platform Virtuoso, affording the opportunity to keep on crafting. The attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a dynamic lineup of activities, like DJ workshops, beatboxing and turntable demonstrations, as well as performances from 3:30pm to 9:00 pm. The program will kick off with an "Introduction to DJing" workshop coached by Terry Ryan, On The Rise DJ Academy founder, and the talented Esi, from KISS FM. The workshop will be a great opportunity for participants to learn and hone their DJ skills. Furthermore, the event marks the official launch of the Lin Kam Art Sound System Futures 2023 cohort, a pioneering initiative dedicated to nurturing the next generation of sound system leaders at Notting Hill Carnival. Linett Kamala, a ground-breaking figure in the music industry and one of the first female DJs to perform at Notting Hill Carnival in 1985, will be introducing this year’s cohort. For the first time in nearly 35 years, there will be a reunion of the original members (Lewis, Max, Herbie, CJ, Danny, KC, Mark, Maurice, Steve & Lloydie) of Mastermind Roadshow with a Q&A. It will be a rare opportunity to meet the team who mixed the classic ELECTRO albums and founders of Mastermind Roadshow, one of Notting Hill Carnival's most respected sound systems. Pioneer DJ will be showcasing their latest innovation, the PLX-CRSS12 - the world’s first digital-analog hybrid turntable - during a special demonstration by the award-winning turntablist, Mr Switch.
