CUNY Law Review Symposium ‘26

April 17th to April 18th · Long Island City
RSVP HERE NOT ON PARTIFUL: https://tinyurl.com/48kxcc8r On April 17 (6-9PM) & April 18 (9AM-5PM), CUNY Law Review is hosting a two-day symposium titled "The City is Ours: Law, Direct Democracy, and Radical Municipalism in NYC." At this symposium, we will explore how communities in New York City can reimagine governance at the municipal level—from tenant unions and mutual aid, to participatory budgeting and neighborhood assemblies—and examine what role legal advocates can play in building and sustaining community power. In the wake of Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s historic victory, we hope to build on the years of mutual aid, tenant organizing, and popular mobilization in response to deepening inequality and state inaction that made this moment possible. As such, through panels and participatory workshops, we have dedicated our symposium to collectively imagining a world in which cities serve as sites of shared governance, material security, and democratic participation. Join us as we gather scholars, activists, and attorneys at the forefront of this discussion, and share your own voice as we chart a new path forward for NYC! Panel themes include: -Radical Municipalism: Theory, History, and Law -Mutual Aid and Community Power -Tenant Power: Housing Justice and Unionizing -Radical Municipalism and Economic Democracy -Participatory Democracy: From Budgeting to Neighborhood Assemblies If you have any questions about the symposium, please contact Colleen Chung at colleen.chung@live.law.cuny.edu 👉 Follow us for updates: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cunylawreview LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/cuny-law-review

Be My Baby! A Motown Soul Party!

Fri, Apr 17 at 10:30pm · Brooklyn
HEYYYYYY all you movers, shakers, and soul quakers!!! DJ Little Sally is comin’ atcha LIVE once again with the SECOND edition of BE MY BABY! A Motown Soul Party — and this time it’s her BIRTHDAY, too! From the Ronettes to the Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, the Shirelles, and every smokin’ lady who ever made your heart skip a beat, DJ Little Sally is bringing Motown, Stax, girl groups, and funky grooves so hot you’ll feel ’em in your SOULLLLLLLLLL. And because it’s a birthday blowout, expect a few extra surprises, and maximum dance-floor joy all night long. So grab your shoes, bring your moves, and get ready to clap, stomp, and shake like there’s no tomorrow and help Sally celebrate another fabulous trip around the sun the only way she knows how: with a packed floor and a whole shimmy. PS: Don't forget to limber up for the one am limbo rock! ABOUT LITTLE SALLY Born and raised just outside of Detroit, Little Sally was steeped in the Motown sound early on, thanks to her grandparents Bob and Karen. That foundation deepened during her college years in Detroit’s Cass Corridor, where underage nights (sorry mom!) at Soul Deep Fridays (hosted by the incredible collector and historian Mike Dutkewych) sparked a lifelong obsession with soul music and dance floor fun. Now Brooklyn-based for over a decade, Little Sally (aka Hope Morawa) smashes her love of hometown oldies and her party-throwing instincts together on the dance floor.

Tulips & Blossoms: Spring Walk in Central Park

Sat, Apr 18 at 3pm · New York
🌷Hey everyone!🌷 Spring is on the way, and on April 18 the city will be right at peak bloom. Join us for a spring walk through some of the season’s best flowers. We’ll start at the West Side Community Garden on 89th Street, where the tulip festival should be in full swing, then make our way through Central Park to catch some of the park’s most beautiful cherry blossom spots. 📍 Meetup: West Side Community Garden (89th Street entrance) at 3 PM. We’ll gather here for 30 minutes before starting the walk. We’ll pass through several scenic spring spots along the way: • West Side Community Garden (89th Street): Tulips and early spring blooms. • Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir: Walk along the water with views of cherry trees in bloom. • Great Lawn: A big open space to enjoy the sun and views of the blossoming trees. • Cedar Hill: A quieter, peaceful spot surrounded by nature. • Pilgrim Hill: Great vantage point for cherry blossoms near the hilltop. • Cherry Hill & Bow Bridge: One of the park’s most iconic cherry blossom views and a perfect photo spot. • Bethesda Terrace: Grand stone terrace overlooking the fountain, surrounded by spring trees and one of Central Park’s most iconic gathering spots. Walk: ~2–2.5 hours at a relaxed pace, depending on how much time we spend enjoying the scenery and taking photos. 🌸 Tips for Enjoying the Walk: • Wear comfortable shoes and dress for spring weather.
