Gracey's Presents: Moontype, Adelaide, and Amalia Juliane
Fri, Sep 18 at 6:30pm · Chicago
Gracey's Presents is an intimate concert series spotlighting local Chicago artists and genre-pushing music. For this edition, we welcome Moontype, Amalia Juliane, and Adelaide!
Moontype is songwriter Margaret McCarthy's dreamworld come to life. Quiet emotions that McCarthy explores with her bass become, with the band, as large and as musically complex as the mood itself: cathartic, angsty, and unmet. Like reading a diary in a crowded room, it puts words to sentiments that are difficult to express: how to be open to the depth of relationships while still holding onto yourself.
Amalia Juliane (she/they) is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, educator and multi-disciplinary improviser raised in Brooklyn, NYC. An alumni of LaGuardia High School of Art & Performing Arts, they went on to get their BFA from the New School in Jazz Vocal Performance, studying privately with the likes of Wendy Eisenberg, Fay Victor, Charmaine Lee, Dafna Naphtali and Ed Rodriguez. With Brazilian and French parents, Amalia blends their multi-cultural musical roots with a raw edge, fueled by experimentation and not bound to genre.
Adelaide (they/them) is a folk/rock/who knows artist based in Chicago. In January 2026 they released “Holding”, a collection of 14 songs from the past two years. The album laces together flashes of childhood memory, the coldness that creeps in during midwestern winters, and the fuzzy kindness of growing trust in others. “Holding” is honest and heavy, drifting between the light and dark feelings of watching time pass.
