Meet a New Neighborhood tours are food tours by locals, for locals. Every Tuesday and Thursday evening, we go to a different area in the outer boroughs and spend 90 minutes exploring three food stops to illuminate the area’s history and present culture. Neighborhoods aren't the only thing you meet on these experiences, though. Our tours begin with a happy hour so you can mingle with other New Yorkers wanting to learn more about their city. And if you hit it off with people during the tour, we end by walking over to a dessert stop so you can continue the local food adventures with your new friends. Meet a New Neighborhood food tours are a way to experience New York and meet New Yorkers offline, seeing the city and its people with your own eyes rather than through a screen. Whether you've lived here for decades or moved from elsewhere a week ago, visiting a new neighborhood with us will help you meet and eat a new side of New York. This week, we're visiting Williamsburg, one of the city's most rapidly changing areas, to traverse our way through the current mecca of New York slice shops. We'll visit three different pizzerias, each with their own style of slice, and chat about both how New York pizza developed and why Williamsburg become the home for a 21st century dough-fueled renaissance. Meet a New Neighborhood food tours cost $50. Films are generally 15 MINUTES or under, but feel free to reach out if you have questions. The Charlie Parker Jazz Festival, New York City’s annual salute to the eponymous late saxophonist, will return for its 34th year as a three-day celebration of live jazz in the neighborhoods where Parker worked and lived, Harlem’s historic Marcus Garvey Park and Tompkins Square Park in the East Village. Running August 28-30, the festival will feature a blend of renowned artists alongside an emerging wave of jazz performers, including the world renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, esteemed jazz saxophonist/composer Joshua Redman, distinguished jazz saxophonist and composer Ravi Coltrane, and many others. The inaugural production of The As If Then Creatives Collective - SHAKESPEARE’S TROILUS & CRESSIDA - formally invites you to come get day drunk with us on Saturday, August 8th, 2pm opener - 2:30pm show! This dynamic, clown-ish, commedia-ish production of Shakespeare’s underground hit (think Romeo & Juliet during The Trojan War) is supported by The Rat NYC’s BAR MINIMUM model, meaning, in order for us to do this production for free, we collectively have to buy ONLY 38 DRINKS from The Rat’s bar. There are only like 40 seats available, and the cast is starting with a round, so we think this goal is very achievable. BRING YOUR LUSH FRIENDS!
