Art, Wine and Love at SXSW
Thu 7pm
· Austin
Get your tickets here: https://austinsxswlove.eventbrite.com During SXSW, step into an evening where art, conversation, and connection come together in an intimate, elevated setting. At Cape Bottle Room, we believe that community is essential for everyone, everywhere. In a world where rapid change often erodes a sense of belonging, we aim to bring people together through our favorite catalyst—great wine. We eliminate the pretense often associated with wine, focusing instead on its enjoyment and the vibrant culture of South Africa, a region that mirrors Austin’s creativity, community, and sustainability. Our goal is to make wine as approachable as beer—casual, low-pressure, and all about a great experience. Recognizing the lack of South African wine options in the U.S., we are committed to accelerating its presence through a dedicated tasting room and wine education, introducing Austinites and beyond to the excellence of this dynamic region. Hosted by Conan Brooks, principal of CBrooks&Co and a fifth-generation art dealer and appraiser, this special showcase highlights emerging artists making waves on the national stage. Brooks is known for curating exclusive private art experiences across the U.S. and internationally. For the first time ever, guests will experience the unveiling of his unique three-dimensional art, alongside works by rising contemporary artist Justin Bower, whose pieces are featured on the set of the hit Paramount series Landman. The artist will be present for the show and a live Landman mural painting experience. Co-hosting the evening is Alina, founder and chief matchmaker of Beau Monde Matchmaking — a boutique matchmaking and coaching company known for curated introductions and refined social gatherings. Beau Monde blends modern dating strategy with classic matchmaking, creating environments where accomplished, relationship-oriented professionals can meet authentically and naturally. Guests will enjoy art, wine, and engaging conversation in a sophisticated SXSW atmosphere designed to spark inspiration — and perhaps meaningful new connections. ✨ What to Expect: • Exclusive art showcase and live mural painting • Curated wine experience at Cape Bottle Room • Elevated social atmosphere with like-minded professionals • A refined space to meet, connect, and celebrate creativity This is more than an event — it’s an experience at the intersection of culture, community, and connection. They deliver their own brand of 70s rock and roll flavoured guitar riffs, amidst a blend of driving Motorik rhythms, and curious lyrical content. Championed by 6Music, and Radio X, they recently released their debut EP, to high acclaim. Sex Mask Sex Mask is a 3 piece post-punk/alternative rock band based in Melbourne, Australia, drawing members who hail from various parts of the globe. The self-contained writing/production unit comprises Vicente Moncada on drums/production, Wry Gray on vocals and lyrics, and Kaya Martin on guitars and synths. Their music is described as a blend of introspective lyrics and innovative soundscapes, in a context of absurdist punk. Sex Mask has released a handful of tracks to date, including ‘Beheadal’, ‘TV Movie’, ‘How To Be Cool At Parties’, ‘Birds’, and most recently, ‘No Love’, Their captivating live show in 2024-25 has seen them support Fcukers, Big Special, Fat White Family, and festival stages around Australia. Famous Friend Zachariah Carlson a.k.a Famous Friend is an ASCAP award-winning Los Angeles based writer/producer/artist. Drawing on his experiences growing up in the private school uber-elite bubble of west L.A., Zach created the alter-ego “Famous Friend” to poke fun at the worst and best parts of living in Los Angeles. Known for wearing red dresses, turquoise earrings, and pearl necklaces like Audrey Hepburn cast in a John Waters movie, Famous Friend blends beds of washed out indie rock guitars with sparkling programmed pop and post-punk drums, while exploring themes of isolation, jealousy, and everything else we’d never dare post online. Lucky Growing up in Staghorn Flat, Australia, Lucky burst onto the scene in a flurry of fuzzy guitars and captivating storytelling. Blending the raw energy of alternative rock, with the dreamy haze of modern indie, her music captures the nuances of life's everyday moments and dives deep, putting you right at the centre of her world. Starting 2026 off with a bang Lucky releases her new single ‘Adored’ and announces her debut EP Biting Heels, set for release April 10th. Atsuko Chiba Montréal’s Atsuko Chiba offer “pounding, angular rock” (BrooklynVegan), venturesomely crossing genre-defining borders with a cohesive and hypnotic blend of post-rock, progressive rock, and krautrock, weaving together a rich sonic tapestry that subverts through offbeat songwriting. In concert, they combine their unique brand of experimental rock with video and light installations triggered in real time by the band. While touring Canada, the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom with their telepathic audiovisual tempest, the outfit have shared the stage with the likes of ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Big Business, King Buffalo, and Duchess Says, also playing notable events such as Portals Festival, SXSW, and M for Montreal. Since 2013, they have released three full-length albums (Jinn, Trace, and Water, It Feels Like It’s Growing), two EPs (Figure and Ground and The Memory Empire), as well as a slew of singles. After offering booming tracks “Pope’s Cocaine” and “Climax Therapy” in the Summer of 2025, the five-piece unveil Atsuko Chiba on April 24th, 2026 via Mothland, a self-titled long-player introducing elements from trip-hop, chamber pop, and ambient to their already sprawling psychedelic alloy. Runo Plum runo plum is an indie folk-rock artist born and raised in rural Minnesota. Nestled in the quiet woods, runo finds inspiration in everything — deep reflections from the past, love, health, relationships, art, or even just the mundane things of everyday life. The majority of runo’s songs are written at home in Minnesota and recorded at fellow artist Philip Brooks’ home studio in southern Germany. The songs capture the same authenticity as when they were written, brought to life with wind chimes, rustling trees, and the distant sound of birds singing. Adult DVD Adult DVD are a band who formed originally as a product of lockdown boredom, rheir music an escape from the humdrum existence we found ourselves trapped in. The band thta is made up of friends Harry Hanson and Greg Lonsdale saw the two experimenting with synths and writing over the internet together. As musical ideas blossomed into fully-fledged songs, further members Jonathan Newell, Danny Blackburn, Jake Williams and George Manson joined and the full band became a reality. They've since played plethora of shows, and have become well-revered on the Leeds music scene alongside acts like Yard Act and English Teacher. The Tullamarines The amalgamation of four distinct voices from Adelaide, The Tullamarines tell their stories through a shared perspective that feels intimate, honest, and quietly uplifting. Josh, Angus, Benny and Lucinda met on the local gig circuit, quickly bonding over a mutual love of songwriting and collaboration. From those early connections, they’ve crafted a sound that reflects each member’s individual sensibilities - a style they affectionately call cosy-pop. Their songs move through life’s highs and lows with the warmth of an old friend, inviting listeners into their living room, putting the kettle on, and sitting with whatever feeling the day brings. That sense of closeness runs through both their recorded work and their live shows. Having appeared on festival line-ups including Beyond The Valley, Woodford Folk Festival, Laneway Festival, Spin Off Festival and New Year’s Eve on the Hill, and toured extensively alongside artists such as Old Mervs, The Preatures, Ball Park Music and Alex Lahey, The Tullamarines continue to build a reputation for heartfelt songwriting and deeply human performances. Mariae Cassandra Mariae Cassandra is one of Australia’s most exciting new voices, a songwriter whose intimate bedroom-pop beginnings have rapidly evolved into a globally resonant career. Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Mariae first built a devoted audience online through YouTube and TikTok, where her honest lyricism and soft melodies connected with millions. In 2024, she took out triple j Unearthed High with her breakout single “Million Billion Trillion” - an ode to friendship that introduced her gift for crafting timeless, heart on sleeve songs with the dreamy charm of her inspirations, beabadoobee and Clairo. Momentum built quickly with Mariae touring nationally supporting WAFIA, signing to Select Music and releasing “Seventeen” via AWAL, landing on major international playlists including a cover spot on Fresh Finds Global.

Sat, Mar 21 12pm
· Futurekind Studio, 1607 Sanchez St, Austin, TX 78702
WHAT IS THE FUTURE FOLKLORE PROJECT? The Future Folklore Project is a living archive of the stories we choose to carry forward. Through intimate gatherings, communal prompts, creative rituals, and collaborative storytelling, the project invites people to reflect on the narratives that have shaped them—those they've inherited, resisted, rewritten, or are still learning to understand. THEME: CRAFT What is the role of craft in an age of mass production, algorithmic design, and digital overload? In this gathering, we’ll explore the meaning of craft, including the historical role that craft has played in community survival, culture, and collective knowledge. We’ll discuss the modern return to craftsmanship and the role it can play in weaving the more beautiful future that we ache for. And we’ll share personal anecdotes and acknowledgements of what craft means to us, and how we want to incorporate it into our lives moving forward.
