QUIET! 16 Release Party

Today at 5pm · Austin
Silk Club is an organization for Austin-based self-identified Asian American women and LGBTQIA individuals to collaborate on projects that celebrate our experience. Our bi-annual project is called QUIET!: a zine that features photography, writing, art, design, and other creative works about Asian experience. This semester, our zine is centered around the theme of “refraction” - How does light move through water? How do you bend as you navigate your surroundings? In what ways is your identity fractured/imposed/viewed through lenses that are not your own? The QUIET! 16 Release Party itself is hosted in order to give creatives that contributed to the zine as well as creatives in the greater UT Austin and Austin community a chance to showcase their art forms and pieces in a safe and empowering environment. In addition to our zine theme, to celebrate our 16th edition, our release party will be themed as a Sweet 16 :) Feel free to dress accordingly! This event will be free and open to the public. Come enjoy: A variety of local AAPI dance performances, including performers Alyssa Chan, Somnia, and Pixelcrew 💃 Poetry / prose readings by QUIET! 16 authors 📚 Local AAPI vendors selling artisan products and art, including Cosmic Provisions, Girl and Cat Crochet, Kaleo Ko, Catherine Liu, Neighborhood Riso, Spilled Chai, Austin Typewriter 🎨 A raffle with tons of cool prizes from local AAPI artists and businesses!
