What if we got 150 New Yorkers to chug a beer and run a lap. four times. and called it a race?
We did not invent it. We are simply gathering the willing. This is our variation of the beer mile, which means team formats too, for those who'd rather split the beers with a couple friends (normal-sized stomachs welcome).
No, it will not be on a track. that would be boring.
Come if you're a runner. come if you're a chugger. come if you're neither and simply enjoy watching chaos unfold in a park.
you don't have to race to be part of it. come heckle, come cheer, come for the spectacle. especially come if you're:
* a former high school track star with something to prove
* someone who "isn't really a runner"
* great at chugging, tragic at running
* great at running, tragic at chugging
* "training for a marathon" and calling this cross-training
* just here for the bit
Run it solo or grab a team and split the laps and beers between you… the rules are pending, you’ll be the first to know.
A very serious podium for the 1st place team (maybe even some serious cash…). an even more serious award for dead last.
We’re working our hardest to have a photo and video team capturing the whole spectacle so it can be digitally remembered. and sorting out an afterparty to follow.
Hit going + turn on notifications so you don't miss the drop. then invite the two friends you know would actually do this.
More soon — just get it on the calendar
Details as of now:
Saturday, Sept 12 · noon · Bushwick Inlet Park

The Last Bohemians Film Screening
Mon, Sep 14 at 6pm · New York
The Last Bohemians is a short documentary series about eight older artists who live in NYC’s historic Chelsea Hotel. Since its opening in 1883, just about everything has been documented and mythologized about this hotel: the famous rock stars, the deaths, suicides, overdoses, and tales of ghosts. However, what many people don’t know or talk about are the residents that still live in the hotel today, some of whom have been there for over 45 years. This series celebrates these residents through their work and incredible lives, capturing a vanishing era of the city amid the rising cost of living.
Directed by artist Timothy Goodman, the film was selected at the Newport Beach Film Festival, and won Best Docuseries at the Big Apple Film Festival.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with renowned writer and "Design Matters" host Debbie Millman, along with several of the Chelsea residents who are featured in the series.

Once a month, we pick a big question and invite someone who has spent a lifetime wrestling with it to come speak. We then take philosophy back to its roots as a social exercise while we discuss the speaker’s ideas with wine and bites.
For our last event we were honored to host Samuel Moyn, Kent Professor of Law and History at Yale. This event’s speaker will be announced closer to the day of the event. We'll hear remarks from our guest speaker, then break into small groups to dig into the questions together before coming back for a full-room discussion.
We’re hosting this event to give people a space to discuss interesting ideas and meet new people who want to do the same. If that sounds like you, we’ll see you at our next meeting.

The Great Brooklyn Beer Mile
Sat, Sep 12 at 12pm · Brooklyn
* someone who "isn't really a runner"
Beer provided (N/A)
Bring a lawn chair, a cowbell, a sign for your favorite stranger, snacks, a friend who'll regret it… whatever your heart desires.

At the summit, we’ll pause for an optional moment of reflection, journaling, or prayer.

Transportation - private charter passenger van

GOOD VIBES!
The Thomases are a fun-loving couple who find adventure in every corner of life. Hosting an end-of-summer hike is the icing on the cake for them and for anyone who joins! Harlem has been home to the Thomases for over 10 years, where they attend Renaissance Church together. In Fall 2024, Renaissance launched a building fund to secure a permanent home for the church, challenging members to raise funds creatively. For the Thomases, the answer was easy: do what they love most: get outside, connect with others, and support their community. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a first-timer, this hike will be a vibe. We’d love for you to join us on this journey and support a great cause (bonus points if you bring a friend!).

The Annual Atlantic Antic
Sun, Sep 27 at 9am · Brooklyn
A Brooklyn institution, The Annual Atlantic Antic™, produced by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation, is the oldest and largest street festival in Brooklyn and a joyful experience, looked forward to by residents of Brooklyn and beyond each year.
Strolling the avenue from Fourth to the Waterfront on a lovely fall day, is a celebration of ethnic tastings, fine arts and crafts from around the world, non-stop music and entertainment, and just pure fun. You’re likely to meet up with old friends or perhaps make new ones. You’ll want to spend the day, as there is just so much to see and do!
Rockaway Film Festival
Wed to Sun · Queens
Rockaway Film Festival presents cinema and other arts at the coastal edge of New York City, joining artists and audiences for unique collective experiences.
Rockaway Film Festival started in 2018 as a four-day experiment to bring cinema back to Rockaway, where there hadn’t been a movie theater in over thirty years. Since then, we’ve grown into a year-round organization offering screenings, live music, performances, and other opportunities for people to gather.
Defined by its location between the Atlantic Ocean and Jamaica Bay, the Rockaway Peninsula is exceptional as both a barrier island with beaches and salt-water marshes — and also a city neighborhood. Our programs are informed by this distinctive landscape and our tickets are always $10 or free to make sure they’re accessible for everyone.

Marigold: Pre-launch Reading
Mon, Sep 21 at 7pm · New York
A day before the pub date of “Women in Marigold,” a debut poetry book by Mansi Dahal, join us for an intimate poetry reading at KGB Bar’s Red Room—an 1834 walkup that once served as a socialist club in the East Village. With a backdrop of peeling red, we have an incredible line up of poets. Ry will be moderating this event and Mansi Dahal will be reading with the poets Ashna Ali, Emily Skillings and Natasha Rao. The door will open at 7:00 with the reading starting closer to 7:15! See you all there.
Note: It’s two flights up the street, not one! There’s another reading happening downstairs.
You can preorder the book here: https://www.stillhousepress.org/stillhouse-store/womeninmarigold
Wilting coriander, etched steel plates, and long, dark hair spread on a beauty parlor floor—Women in Marigold is intimacy over a kitchen sink and sheer evidence of presence. At its center is the ache of dislocation and the desire for rootedness, captured in a single, impossible wish: “Imagine being able to live / in one place at one time.” Interrogating what we inherit, Women in Marigold moves from Kathmandu to New York City, from Saeeda Bai to Sylvia Plath, confronting the tension between life as a daughter in Nepal and a future as an artist in America. The book has received advance praise from Diane Seuss, Bhanu Kapil, Dorothea Lasky, and Timothy Donnelly.
