Make a Friend Picnic - Dolores Park

Sat, Sep 12 at 12:30pm · San Francisco
Update: this is officially becoming a monthly thing. The first one got so big we ran out of blanket space. Everyone walked away with full hearts and a little sunburnt. I'm still new to the Bay, and this is still the most extroverted thing an introvert can dream up: inviting a pile of strangers to come sit in the grass with me. My social battery is finite. My love of people, picnics, and the specific magic of introducing two people who end up becoming real friends is not. So here I am again, being brave, inviting you to Mission Dolores Park. Bring your own picnic setup: a blanket, drinks, snacks, whatever makes sitting in the grass feel a little luxurious. I'll either be the redhead having a solo picnic reading something objectively terrible on Kindle Unlimited, or the redhead surrounded by people looking a little overwhelmed because this happened again. Athena, my dog, will be there too, asking you to throw her ball or slip her a snack. She has no shame about it. Either way, come say hi.

QUEER PICTURE DAY

Sun at 2pm · Oakland
QUEER PICTURE DAY 💌 by OMG Visuals I’ve had this idea in my mind for years and I’m finally bringing it to life. A lot of queer people never really got the chance to fully express ourselves as our fully realized selves growing up. So I wanted to create a Picture Day for us now. A space to document who we are, who we’ve become, and the versions of ourselves we dreamed about for so long. Come in your best whatever-that-means-to-you. Dress up, be soft, be bold, be sexy, be playful, be fully yourself. I want to capture the queer joy we carry and preserve this moment in time together. This will be a community portrait event with a backdrop, music, candid moments, and eventually a yearbook-style archive with “Most Likely To…” superlatives and community pages spotlighting the people and spaces that shape us. My dream is to make this a yearly series — something we can return to every year to see who we are becoming. We’ll be at my favorite bar in downtown Oakland during Pride with a DJ, good energy, beautiful people, and room to connect. Come ready to take portraits, meet new people, and be part of something special.

SF Fragrance Sample Swap

For the fragrance obsessed, the Ministry of Scent / ZGO crowd, and anyone with a sample graveyard collecting dust - a free sample fragrance swap! Hosted at an outdoor location in The Mission. Bring your forgotten samples and swap them for something new to obsess over. Come hang with fellow SF fragrance lovers, discover new scents, and give those neglected bottles a second life. HOW THE SWAP WORKS Bring 20 or fewer of your best samples or travel-sized fragrances from: • Niche & established fragrance houses • Small / independent perfumers • Unusual or hard-to-find brands • Clean fragrance brands For every fragrance that is at least 50% full, you’ll receive one swap ticket. Once everyone has checked in and received their tickets, we’ll lay everything out and start the “shopping”. Use your tickets to claim someone else’s fragrance and hopefully leave with a whole new lineup to obsess over. NO SAMPLES LEFT BEHIND Samples that are less than 50% full or from mainstream designer brands don’t qualify for tickets - but please bring any you’re willing to part with. They’ll go into the FREE PILE that anyone participating in the qualified swaps can shop from. No ticket needed. Bring your stash. Bring your nose. Bring your curiosity. FYI this is not sponsored nor professionally organized - I’m just a person organizing their first swap so I will limit RSVPs in an attempt to keep the group the right size. Therefore please only RSVP “Yes” if you intent to show up and cancel if your plans change to let someone from the waitlist in. FULL-SIZE BOTTLE SWAP Due to interest, you’re welcome to bring your full-sized bottles for swapping at your discretion (You will be responsible for how you negotiate a trade - but future swaps might involve ticketed full sized swapping!)

Can I Get a Witness? Open Mic

Next Sun at 5pm · Oakland
CIGAW is ONE YEAR OLD 🥳🥳🥳🥳💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾Come celebrate the open mic that’s healing social isolation one mic at a time!! Can I Get a Witness? (CIGAW) is the first open mic of its kind, because after each poem we talk about it. We talk about what emotions came up, what resonates, and how our individual experiences relate to larger conditions. Some call it “poetic aftercare”, we call it a poetry witnessing circle. Here’s how it works: 🎤 open mic list with 8-10 poets. 🎤 Poets can share for up to 5mins. 🎤After each poem the room speaks back for 3-5mins. We have a few rules to keep the evening cute/supportive: 🚫 no Advice 🚫 no Scores 🚫 no Critiques ⭐️⭐️⭐️The goal is engage in meaningful conversation rooted in the themes found in the poets work—which typically hits different for each listener. During the event we provide “Ways We Witness”and “Optional Speaking Prompts” that keep the container supportive for both the performers and the audience. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, RSVP and tell a loved one. See you there 💃🏾✨ Your donation helps make this effort sustainable. Thank you! ☀️

Maison Noir Vol. III — Bal Masqué

Sat, Aug 29 at 7pm · San Francisco
August 29, 2026. Hibernia Bank, San Francisco. The mask goes on. Maison Noir returns for its third chapter, and we're not holding back. Bigger crowds. More performances. A scale of production you haven't seen from us yet. The same uncompromising standard of elegance and atmosphere that made Vol. I and Vol. II sell out, taken further than before. Step into a night of masquerade, where identity dissolves behind gold and lace, and the line between mystery and glamour disappears. Curated live performances. Roaming characters drawn from a world of secrecy and seduction. Dramatic lighting. Every detail, intentional. This is not a party. It is a disguise worth keeping. Expect more than you imagine. We are always aiming to surprise you, in the best way. Presented in partnership with LUPFR Entertainment, Ben Holfeld, Scorpio Events Booking, and Join Mutuals MAIN TICKETS SOLD ON POSH - RSVP COUNT DOES NOT REFLECT CURRENT AVAILABILITY AT EVENT.

Pine Needle Basketry Beginners Workshop (Sliding Scale)

Sun at 1pm · San Rafael
Join us in learning the ancestral art of pine needle basketry in this hands-on workshop. Using locally and responsibly sourced natural materials, you'll learn the key beginner techniques to be able to weave your very own beautiful, functional basket. You'll be starting your basket with a drilled base, using a pine branch "tree cookie" which is considered to be more beginner-friendly and accessible than the traditional coil start. We'll be using pine needles sourced by hand from Marin, Sonoma, and Mendocino counties. All necessary materials will be provided, but you're welcome to bring your own beads or shells for weaving into your basket. No prior experience necessary, just bring your curiosity and creativity. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP ASAP to reserve your spot. For those who end up on the waitlist for this event, don't worry there will be more workshops coming up.

a cup of tea w/ yan yan

Mon at 7pm · San Francisco
A musical comedy show for anyone who has ever spiraled about rent, grief, identity, or whether to believe in themselves and a better future. Through original songs, stories, and a cup of yancha, Yan Yan attempts to make you laugh and/or cry. It’s silly, a little existential, not self-aware enough, and built around the question: if we’re living in a deeply unfunny era, could you still humor me?

Double Dipping: A Mixed Culture Picnic

Sat, Aug 22 at 1pm · San Francisco
Imagine your mixed and multicultural identity embodied in a single bite: What ingredients would you use? What recipes would you follow, or reinvent? There are few culinary canvases as blank and infinite as a dip: something saucy, something crunchy to scoop with, and basically any ingredient from around the world. In celebration of how cultures blend and mix in our identities, join us for a multicultural dip party in Dolores Park! Some things to know + do: - Bring a dip + something to dip with to share that embodies two or more of your cultures (inspo down below) - Be ready to swap stories with fellow mixed humans! There’s a lot to connect on when it comes to identity, food, and identity via food 🤩 - Don't want to make a dip? Join us anyways, we need people to enjoy what we're making! - We'll provide plates, cutlery, and bubbly waters, but invite you to BYO reusable ones to help reduce waste too! 🌍
