QUEER PICTURE DAY

Next Sun at 2pm · Oakland
QUEER PICTURE DAY 💌 by OMG Visuals I’ve had this idea in my mind for years and I’m finally bringing it to life. A lot of queer people never really got the chance to fully express ourselves as our fully realized selves growing up. So I wanted to create a Picture Day for us now. A space to document who we are, who we’ve become, and the versions of ourselves we dreamed about for so long. Come in your best whatever-that-means-to-you. Dress up, be soft, be bold, be sexy, be playful, be fully yourself. I want to capture the queer joy we carry and preserve this moment in time together. This will be a community portrait event with a backdrop, music, candid moments, and eventually a yearbook-style archive with “Most Likely To…” superlatives and community pages spotlighting the people and spaces that shape us. My dream is to make this a yearly series — something we can return to every year to see who we are becoming. We’ll be at my favorite bar in downtown Oakland during Pride with a DJ, good energy, beautiful people, and room to connect. Come ready to take portraits, meet new people, and be part of something special.

walking from portrero to mission with some delicious delights sprinkled throughout. it’s a neighborhood walk x food crawl 🌾 ~75 mins of walking starting at potrero, ending in mission. 30 mins of mingling / food ordering starting at 10am before we start the walk. please note that certain spots won’t allow pets unless they’re service animals! lineup will be released closer to the date but each will be a hidden spot or neighborhood favorite. note that everyone purchases individually at each location; either come hungry or come with friends if you plan on sharing! —— hii everyone :) as this is gaining more traction, just wanted to clarify logistics and details so far: - dining establishments will be finalized and released in the coming week or so; given the number of attendees, i’m confirming with each establishment that they’re able to handle the volume of orders - everyone MUST PREORDER at least 24 hours in advance to reduce congestion and to allow each place to prepare for the guest count and orders - instagram group chat is released for attendees for detailed logistics and to coordinate day of. strongly recommend joining! - i’m just one girl doing this to share my hobbies of walking and eating. this is not affiliated with any org but im doing my best to stay coordinated. if there’s any questions/input reach out on insta @touchgrasswalkclub

Can I Get a Witness? Open Mic

Sun, Aug 23 at 5pm · Oakland
CIGAW is ONE YEAR OLD 🥳🥳🥳🥳💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾Come celebrate the open mic that’s changing the culture of spoken word as we know it!! Can I Get a Witness? (CIGAW) is the first open mic of its kind, because after each poem we talk about it. We talk about what emotions came up, what resonates, and how our individual experiences relate to larger conditions. Some call it “poetic aftercare”, we call it a poetry witnessing circle. Here’s how it works: 🎤 open mic list with 8-10 poets. 🎤 Poets can share for up to 5mins. 🎤After each poem the room speaks back for 3-5mins. We have a few rules to keep the evening cute/supportive: 🚫 no Advice 🚫 no Scores 🚫 no Critiques ⭐️⭐️⭐️The goal is engage in meaningful conversation rooted in the themes found in the poets work—which typically hits different for each listener. During the event we provide “Ways We Witness”and “Optional Speaking Prompts” that keep the container supportive for both the performers and the audience. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, RSVP and tell a loved one. See you there 💃🏾✨ Your donation helps make this effort sustainable. Thank you! ☀️

Maison Noir Vol. III — Bal Masqué

Sat, Aug 29 at 7pm · San Francisco
August 29, 2026. Hibernia Bank, San Francisco. The mask goes on. Maison Noir returns for its third chapter, and we're not holding back. Bigger crowds. More performances. A scale of production you haven't seen from us yet. The same uncompromising standard of elegance and atmosphere that made Vol. I and Vol. II sell out, taken further than before. Step into a night of masquerade, where identity dissolves behind gold and lace, and the line between mystery and glamour disappears. Curated live performances. Roaming characters drawn from a world of secrecy and seduction. Dramatic lighting. Every detail, intentional. This is not a party. It is a disguise worth keeping. Expect more than you imagine. We are always aiming to surprise you, in the best way. Presented in partnership with LUPFR Entertainment, Ben Holfeld, Scorpio Events Booking, and Join Mutuals

We wanted to create a space to rekindle our love for this tabletop game and connect with other people who are interested in playing it. This event is for people who want to play carrom - it doesn't matter if you haven't played in 15 years or have never picked up a striker in your life. At the end of the day, it's about connecting with others over a game and a cup of chai. Registration includes chai, snacks, and game time - we'll have multiple boards, games will be played in brackets and there will be cards and ludo for people to play in-between carrom games. Don't worry - we'll have instructions (and the game is quite self explanatory) Plus, we'll have prizes! Think you got good aim? Come test your skills :) ---------------------------------- You must venmo @safizaq to buy your ticket and confirm your spot Note: 'Going' does not guarantee entry into the event.

Bay Paddle Day

Sat, Aug 29 at 10am · Oakland
🌊☀️ Bay Paddle Day ☀️🌊 Who’s ready for a day on the water? 🩵 We’re planning a paddle day around the Bay Area, and we’d love for you to join us! 📍 Location: Near Oakland (exact launch location coming soon!) 🗓️ Current Date: Saturday, August 29 Please note: We’re scouting the location beforehand to make sure it’s a great spot with easy parking and plenty of space. The location—and possibly the date—may change based on what we find, so stay tuned for updates! Whether you paddleboard, kayak, or just want to spend the day hanging out by the water, come join us! 🚣 Bring Your Own Adventure Bring whatever gets you out on the water: 🏄 Paddleboard 🛶 Kayak 🚤 Any human-powered watercraft 🏖️ Or simply come relax by the shore and enjoy the day! If you don’t have your own equipment, let us know! Between us, we have a few extras that may be available to borrow. We’ll do our best to help everyone get out on the water. I also posted about a rental spot nearby! 🌞 Don’t Forget 💧 Water 🧴 Sunscreen 🧢 Hat & sunglasses 🥪 Snacks or lunch 🏖️ Towel 👕 A change of clothes (you never know! 😂) This is all about getting outside, exploring a new spot, meeting new people, and enjoying a relaxing day on the water. No experience necessary—whether it’s your first time or you’re out every weekend, everyone is welcome! 💙 RSVP Requested Please RSVP so we have an idea of who’s coming and can coordinate equipment if anyone needs to borrow a paddleboard or kayak. We’ll send out the final location and any updates after we scout the area. Looking forward to a fun day on the water! 🌊☀️ 🌊 Important Safety Update As this event has grown, I wanted to clarify a few things. This is an informal community meetup, not a guided tour, lesson, or professionally organized event. There will be no instructors, lifeguards, safety staff, or rescue support. Everyone attends and participates at their own risk and is responsible for making their own decisions about whether conditions are appropriate for them. If you plan to paddle, please: * Be able to swim. * Be comfortable in open water. * Be capable of managing yourself and your equipment without relying on others. * Bring and wear appropriate safety gear, including a properly fitted life jacket. If you’re new to paddleboarding, not comfortable swimming, or aren’t confident in ocean conditions yet, I’d love for you to still come hang out on the beach, meet everyone, and enjoy the community! There will absolutely be opportunities to socialize without getting on the water. Please use your own judgment regarding ocean and weather conditions before participating. If at any point you don’t feel comfortable, it’s always okay to sit this one out. Looking forward to seeing everyone and having a fun, safe day together! 💙
