Make a Friend Picnic - Dolores Park
Sat, Sep 12 at 12:30pm
· San Francisco
Update: this is officially becoming a monthly thing. The first one got so big we ran out of blanket space. Everyone walked away with full hearts and a little sunburnt. I'm still new to the Bay, and this is still the most extroverted thing an introvert can dream up: inviting a pile of strangers to come sit in the grass with me. My social battery is finite. My love of people, picnics, and the specific magic of introducing two people who end up becoming real friends is not. So here I am again, being brave, inviting you to Mission Dolores Park. Bring your own picnic setup: a blanket, drinks, snacks, whatever makes sitting in the grass feel a little luxurious. I'll either be the redhead having a solo picnic reading something objectively terrible on Kindle Unlimited, or the redhead surrounded by people looking a little overwhelmed because this happened again. Athena, my dog, will be there too, asking you to throw her ball or slip her a snack. She has no shame about it. Either way, come say hi.

QUEER PICTURE DAY
Sun at 2pm
· Oakland
QUEER PICTURE DAY 💌 by OMG Visuals I’ve had this idea in my mind for years and I’m finally bringing it to life. A lot of queer people never really got the chance to fully express ourselves as our fully realized selves growing up. So I wanted to create a Picture Day for us now. A space to document who we are, who we’ve become, and the versions of ourselves we dreamed about for so long. Come in your best whatever-that-means-to-you. Dress up, be soft, be bold, be sexy, be playful, be fully yourself. I want to capture the queer joy we carry and preserve this moment in time together. This will be a community portrait event with a backdrop, music, candid moments, and eventually a yearbook-style archive with “Most Likely To…” superlatives and community pages spotlighting the people and spaces that shape us. My dream is to make this a yearly series — something we can return to every year to see who we are becoming. We’ll be at my favorite bar in downtown Oakland during Pride with a DJ, good energy, beautiful people, and room to connect. Come ready to take portraits, meet new people, and be part of something special.

Can I Get a Witness? Open Mic
Next Sun at 5pm
· Oakland
CIGAW is ONE YEAR OLD 🥳🥳🥳🥳💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾Come celebrate the open mic that’s healing social isolation one mic at a time!! Can I Get a Witness? (CIGAW) is the first open mic of its kind, because after each poem we talk about it. We talk about what emotions came up, what resonates, and how our individual experiences relate to larger conditions. Some call it “poetic aftercare”, we call it a poetry witnessing circle. Here’s how it works: 🎤 open mic list with 8-10 poets. 🎤 Poets can share for up to 5mins. 🎤After each poem the room speaks back for 3-5mins. We have a few rules to keep the evening cute/supportive: 🚫 no Advice 🚫 no Scores 🚫 no Critiques ⭐️⭐️⭐️The goal is engage in meaningful conversation rooted in the themes found in the poets work—which typically hits different for each listener. During the event we provide “Ways We Witness”and “Optional Speaking Prompts” that keep the container supportive for both the performers and the audience. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, RSVP and tell a loved one. See you there 💃🏾✨ Your donation helps make this effort sustainable. Thank you! ☀️

A scale of production you haven't seen from us yet. The same uncompromising standard of elegance and atmosphere that made Vol. I and Vol. II sell out, taken further than before. Step into a night of masquerade, where identity dissolves behind gold and lace, and the line between mystery and glamour disappears. Curated live performances. Roaming characters drawn from a world of secrecy and seduction. Dramatic lighting. Every detail, intentional. This is not a party. It is a disguise worth keeping. Expect more than you imagine. We are always aiming to surprise you, in the best way. Alongside the exhibition, ((CAMERA NOISE)) will feature a marketplace of independent publishers, photographers, and local photo organizations, creating an opportunity for visitors to discover and support the artists and communities producing photo books, zines, prints, and other photographic work throughout the Bay Area. The evening will also include live DJ and music performances, snacks and refreshments, and an instant large-format 4×5 Polaroid portrait station, inviting guests to participate in the photographic process and take home a one-of-a-kind instant image. More than an exhibition, ((CAMERA NOISE)) is a gathering of photographers, artists, publishers, darkroom practitioners, and friends. A celebration of the physical, communal, and experimental possibilities of photography. Free and open to the public.

Maison Noir Vol. III — Bal Masqué
Sat, Aug 29 at 7pm
· San Francisco
August 29, 2026. Hibernia Bank, San Francisco. The mask goes on. Maison Noir returns for its third chapter, and we're not holding back. Bigger crowds. More performances. Presented in partnership with LUPFR Entertainment, Ben Holfeld, Scorpio Events Booking, and Join Mutuals MAIN TICKETS SOLD ON POSH - RSVP COUNT DOES NOT REFLECT CURRENT AVAILABILITY AT EVENT.

Permission to Lose It — a Somatic Tantrum Ritual for Women
Thu, Aug 27 at 7pm
· North Berkeley Hills, CA
There are parts of you you’ve learned are “too much.” Too intense. Too overwhelming. Too messy to make sense of. Too inconvenient to let exist. Over time, many of us have learned to contain them — to quiet them, override them, or make them more reasonable than we actually feel. So the intensity stays. Held in the body. Revisited in the mind. Waiting for a space where it can finally move. What if these moments are not a problem to solve? What if they are expressions of something within us that simply has not yet been met, felt, or allowed? When there is enough safety, both internally and around us, emotional intensity can begin to shift. What once felt overwhelming can move, soften, and resolve — often more quickly than we expect. Permission to Lose It is a tender, unapologetic, experiential space for exploring this possibility. Through somatic practices and relational exercises, we will create the conditions for what has been held inside to be met with presence and care. Together, we will explore: – how emotional intensity lives and moves in the body – what happens when we allow ourselves to feel without immediately containing or explaining – how to stay connected to ourselves while something strong is moving – the quiet intelligence within our most overwhelming moments This is not about acting from reactivity. It's about becoming less afraid of yourself. It is about having a space to let things move, so you can show up in your life with more clarity, and develop a deeper capacity to be with yourself. You may leave with: – a softer, more spacious relationship to emotional intensity – a greater sense of trust in your inner experience – an embodied sense of relief and settling – a deeper connection to yourself and others Meet Your Facilitators Portia Mayari is an somatic intimacy and leadership coach and the founder of The Bougie Bruja Co., where she helps high-capacity women heal their relationship to their body, pleasure, and sensuality through nervous-system-led embodiment work. (https://thebougiebruja.com/) Sophia Zheng is an embodiment coach who helps people who have done the inner work but still struggle to embody it — especially in moments of uncertainty, and self-doubt. She supports people in moving from overthinking and overriding themselves into deeper trust in the truth their body already knows. (https://sophiasomatics.com/)
